By Matthew A. McIntosh / 03.31.2016:
Miami Police Department Major Delrish Moss, 51, appears to be on course to be named the new police chief in Ferguson, Missouri.
According to The Miami Times, Ferguson City Spokesman would not confirm the appointment and said, “We’re close to an announcement. That pick will be made by the city manager.”
Moss has been with MPD 32 years, since 1984, and is one of four finalists for the position in Ferguson. Sources say the decision has already been made and will soon be announced.
As of the 2010 census, 67.4 percent of Ferguson’s 21,000 residents are black and 29.3 percent white. It’s about time the police department, with qualified officers, began to look more like the community it is sworn to serve and protect.
