Michele Bachmann: ‘First And Foremost,’ Trump ‘Has Respect For God’

By Kyle Mantyla / 02.02.2018

On Tuesday night, former Minnesota congresswoman and current “pastor to the United Nations” Michele Bachmann joined televangelist Kenneth Copeland to provide live analysis of President Trump’s State of the Union address. During the broadcast, Bachmann assured viewers that Trump has a deep respect for God while Copeland declared that people should rely on the Bible when forming their opinion about Trump rather than what they see of him on television.

Bachmann said “there is so much decency” in Trump: “He’s head, but he is very much heart and he has so much respect for God.”

“He really does,” she insisted. “He’s lived a wild life, but this is a guy who has respect for God. First and foremost, he has respect for God. I have been in the Oval Office, I put my hands on him, I’ve prayed over this man. He asks for prayer, his whole family asks for prayer, that’s because they understand the importance of God and they respect God.”

Copeland later mocked Christians who disapprove of Trump’s behavior by insisting that while he may say “some pretty raunchy stuff,” at least “he’s got the guts enough to say publicly what all the rest of them been saying behind the doors for the last 75, 80 years. He just stands up there and says it for the public, let’s you know exactly where he stands. I like that in a man.”

“Let me ask you something,” Copeland said to his viewers. “Do you know Donald Trump personally? … Do you know anybody that knows him? Doesn’t sound to me like you know too much. If all you know is what you see on television, you are grossly misinformed.”

“Information comes from here first,” Copeland declared, tapping his Bible.
