Sarah Palin doesn’t have the guts to debate Bill Nye, so she’s debating a video instead

The internet is buzzing with rumors that Sarah Palin will be debating Bill Nye on climate change. Well, not quite. The word salad connoisseur doesn’t have the guts to debate the science guy in person. In reality, Nye will not even be making a live appearance and instead will only be featured via a pre-recorded video.
This is certainly disappointing because it would have been quite entertaining to watch Nye shred the tea-party dingbat with, like, science and shit. But unfortunately, this is just not to be.
The video featuring Nye is actually a conversation between the Science Guy and Marc Morano, Director of Communications with CFACT and a climate change denier who is well loved by right wingers. The debate, that isn’t actually a debate but rather a “panel discussion,” is scheduled to take place following the debut showing of the documentary Climate Hustle, which was directed by Morano.
According to CFACT:
Cinema audiences will learn more about the topic through a panel discussion with welcoming remarks by Congressman Lamar Smith (R-TX), Chairman of the House Science, Space and Technology Committee, headlined by Governor Sarah Palin, 2008 Republican Vice Presidential Candidate and 9th Governor of Alaska, moderated by Brent Bozell, Founder and President of the Media Research Center and will also include other notable experts including renowned climatologist Dr. David Legates and a special appearance by Emmy Award-winning educator Bill Nye the Science Guy. This riveting discussion will focus on climate change and issues brought up during the event.
As mentioned earlier, this “special appearance” by Bill Nye is really nothing of the sort, rather it is simply video footage of Nye and Morano discussing his film on a park bench in March. So this debate won’t actually be a debate at all. In actuality, it barely even qualifies as a panel discussion since Nye won’t even be present.
We should also have every expectation that Nye’s comments will be heavily edited. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me at all for the video to reveal that the Science Guy is selling “baby parts.” Regardless, it surely isn’t going to be the memorable event it would have been if Palin and Nye were to face off on a debate stage.
