How the statue might look
From Phil Corrigan at The Sentinel / 03.12.2016:
COUNCIL leaders have revived plans to build an 80ft statue of an Anglo-Saxon warrior.
The £3.5 million project was first proposed six years ago following the acquisition of the Staffordshire Hoard by the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery.
While a 9ft version of the statue, designed by Blurton-born artist Andy Edwards, has been installed at the museum, the larger project has stalled.
But now coalition leaders at Stoke-on-Trent City Council are resurrecting the plans as they look to boost tourism in the Potteries.
