We have a plethora of medieval maps on vellum and such, but mapmaking extends to ancient times. This late antique map of Rome was, like many, set in stone. After the decline of the empire, it suffered the same fate as many of Rome’s pieces and was repurposed. Once in a while a new piece is found to this enormous work.
