Matthew earned two B.A. degrees in history (focus ancient/medieval) and journalism (focus print and digital) from the University of Houston and is now in doctoral study in ancient history.

Andy provides Brewminate with marketing and social media strategies. His efforts help us bring more people to the Brewminate experience.

Scott03  Scott Alderson / Contributor – Communications

With a B.A. in organizational communication from McNeese State University and a Masters in rhetoric and argumentation from Arkansas State University, Scott is an adjunct professor and speech/debate consultant.

BartBarker01  Bart Barker / Contributor – Politics

Bart has a lengthy and varied career in local government. Currently, he is a senior policy advisor to an at-large county council member. He created and served as managing editor of a widely read, nonpartisan, daily public policy newsletter.

Dana  Dana Eilers / Contributor – Law and Religion

A retired attorney and published author in Pagan religious issues and law, Dana has a B.A. in political science from Smith College and D.Jur. from New England School of Law. She was admitted the the Bar in Massachusetts, Illinois, and Missouri.

Zolon01  Zolon Farsane / Contributor – Technology

Zolon has 24 years of experience in information technology. His primary focus is architecture and design with a strong focus in computer and network security and digital forensics. His expertise takes a sharp eye to maintaining privacy.

Yula01  Yula Flournoy / Contributor – Literature and Language

Yula earned an Associate of Arts in physics and math from Weatherford College, a B.A. in French from the University of North Texas, an M.A. in French from the University of North Texas as well as an M.A. in English from the same.  She has an extensive collegiate teaching history.  She is, in her words, a “Renaissance Woman” – and her record shows it!

Gragera01  Antonio Gragera / Contributor – Linguistics

Dr. Gragera earned a Master’s degree in 1995 in  Spanish literature and linguistics from Auburn University, another Master’s degree in 1999 in Hispanic linguistics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and a doctorate in psycholinguistics in 2000 from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.  He is currently an associate professor in the Department of Modern Languages at Texas State University.

Howard01  Dr. Howard M. Marmell / Contributor – Medicine

After completing his undergraduate degree in liberal arts at Columbia College in New York, Dr. Marmell attended medical school at New York University and received his M.D. in 1967 with a specialty in neurology.  He practiced as a neurologist for 46 years, retiring in 2013.

Sean01  Sean E. Pevsner / Contributor – Law

Sean majored in Greek and Latin at the University of Texas–Austin. He went on to graduate from University of Texas Law School and gained admittance to Texas State Bar. He is currently a partner in his own firm.

Simicek01  Mary Anne Reinke Simicek / Contributor – Mental Health Care

Mary Anne earned a B.A. in psychology with a minor in anthropology from the University of Houston.  She then pursued and completed an M.A. in forensic psychology from the University of Denver.  She currently works in the mental health field after holding positions as a forensic interviewer as well as a coordinator for state mental health services.  Watch out, we’ve got a head-watcher on board!

Heather01  Heather Throckmorton / Contributor – Science

Heather earned a B.S. in geology from the University of Southern Maine and a doctorate in soil biogeochemistry from the University of California, Davis. Having completed postdoctoral research at Los Alamos National Laboratory, she is continuing postdoctoral research at M.I.T.
