Sarah Palin, speaking at an event in Florida during on of her Trump stumps, said of protesters at Trump rallies:
Petty, punk-ass little thuggery stuff that’s been goin’ on, quote unquote protesters…
Disapproval of the longest means used by Americans to express discontent – protesting – seems to be a theme of Trump and friends. On March 12, I wrote of the following statement by Trump at a rally in St. Louis:
Part of the problem is…nobody wants to hurt each other anymore, and they’re being politically correct the way they take them out…and honestly, protesters realize that there are no consequences to protesting anymore. There used to be consequences, there are none anymore.
Our country has to toughen up, folks. We have to toughen up. These people are bringing us down. Remember that, they’re bringing us down. No reason for it. These people are so bad for our country, you have no idea, folks. They contribute nothing – nothing! … Hurting this country, folks, hurting this country…I’ll tell you these are not good people folks, just do you understand, these are not good people.
Protesters are “thugs” and are “hurting our country”. Protesters “contribute nothing”. Protesters “are not good people”.
Trump and Palin would do well to pick up a few books and read about the founding of this nation and the methods used by early revolutionaries.
At the very least, it would be a good educational break from “See Spot Run”.
