The future of the world will be closely tied to the internet and the technological advances that it makes. Experts in many fields have weighed in upon what we can expect to see in the future. In the end though, there are so many variables that could come into play that the predictions for the future of the internet are just that, predictions.
The Pew Research Center, a couple of years ago, conducted numerous studies, and talked to various experts, to come up with a couple of conclusions that may surprise you. First of all, they stated that the way that we use the internet today will be outdated and seldom used, like dial up service. Keyboards, mice, and even headphones will be considered pointless and useless. Secondly, they said that images from the net will be seen in everyday life, not just on screens. It will be like many of the movies that we see now that have been based in the future.
Virtual Life
Just picture yourself in a world were virtual reality and real life combine. You can walk down the road and swipe on an advertisement floating in the air to purchase it online. You may be able to do your job at home, but still be present in a conscious form. Have you seen movies where all adult interactions are done virtually to prevent illnesses from spreading? This may well happen in the near future.
Obviously, some of the predictions that have been made could be a little far-fetched. But virtual learning is already being used to teach employees in larger stores, it imbeds the information in a more efficient way into their employees. You can go anywhere and use an antenna to boost cell phone signal.
Verbal and Auditory Life
This you can see everywhere you go. It is already becoming a normal way of life. Speaking into your mobile device, rather than typing. Video chatting your friends and family that are in various locations. Logging into a server to attend a seminar, or to join a business meeting, without having to spend the time and money to travel. It is also already becoming common to attend a funeral, or viewing, by logging into a server that the funeral home has set up ahead of time.
Private Life
Having your own privacy will become outdated. You can already see this diminishing as your searches on the internet allow social media sites to track and advertise directly to you. Websites that you visit share your information to other related sites and your email gets bombed with junk mail. It has even been suggested that when you met new people on the street, or in a club, that you will be able to get all their information on your phone, or virtually through eyeglasses or implants. Cheap internet will become normal as high tech devices flood the market.
Health and Life
This technology is already being used in various forms. Blockchain servers are used by some providers to allow all other medical entities access to patient files. This allows every person to have one complete, updated file. It comes in extremely handy during an emergency.
We are also able to keep track of our own health issues. Smart watches and devices that we wear, or stick to our bodies, will check all the major functions of the body. If you notice a problem, you can then go to your medical provider and let them know what the problem is. This will decrease the chance of misdiagnosing and will speed up the amount of time needed to help you with your issue.
Life and the Internet
Technological devices will rely on the internet to work. This should make all the providers step up their games and make service more affordable and easier to maintain. Areas that have not already converted to fiber optic lines will have to do so to keep up with the competitors. Overall, the future looks like a video from the future. Whether it gets there or not is up to the people of the world, but for now, we all must embrace the new, and give up the old for a better, more efficient world.
