On this date in 1936, President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued Executive Order 7285 designating the flag of the Vice President, to be used when officially representing the President. The flag’s design changed in 1948 (first image below) and again in 1975 (second image below).
Noticeable on this flag is the retention of the motto established by our Founders – “E Pluribus Unum” (From Many, One), instead of replacing it with “In God We Trust”.
