

Only with moral seriousness can we navigate towards a future that benefits everyone.

Now is a time to question the myths and stories we live by. I find myself questioning a long-held belief in moral progress, memorably put byย Martin Luther King, Jr: โThe arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.โ
In the face of todayโs challenges, it is too easy to lose faith in Kingโs vision of a better future. But that is exactly what we need to guide us through current messes and upheavals. Rather than abandoning Kingโs explicitly moral affirmation of progress, we need to double down on it. We shouldnโt be tempted by the frequently cynical visions of the future trafficked by todayโs tech visionaries.
A natural first question aboutย generative AI, todayโs most disruptive tech, is how rich it will make those fortunate enough to be early investors in it? If social media birthed billionaires, will generative AI parent the first trillionaires?
