What are the main differences between non-denominational churches and churches with Pentecostal belief system? Well, to answer this question, we have to go a bit deeper and know the basics.
What are Non-Denominational Churches?
These churches are part of Christianity. When it comes to their identification, they are said to be away from all denominations. However, Baptist, Methodist, and Lutheran are some examples followed in a protestant church. For example, you can visit this non denominational church in Naperville. But when we talk about non-denominational churches, they are not identified as one.
In other words, there isn’t anything of a denominational essence in the non-denominational churches. It will not be wrong to say that these churches are the form of protestants and are evangelical in nature. Also, non-denominational churches are conservative to quite a degree.
If we ask, “what is included in the belief system of a non-denominational church?”, the answer would be – they have firm belief in three things: the Holy Scripture, Jesus Christ as the deity, and the Trinity. Other than that, they practice communion which is also called “Lord Supper” and baptism.
There are many reasons why this religion or belief system is not appreciated by denominational churches. We will not go into that kind of detail right now. know more about non-denominational churches in the world at Awaken Church.
Assemblies of God & Pentecostal Belief
According to one of the research projects, it is revealed Pentecostals’ belief system is spreading like fire in the woods. But the question that we are more interested in is: what form of Christianity is Pentecostal? Well, the answer to it is: this belief system is a part of Christianity and it is based on everything related and associated with Spirit. Another focus is on the experiences received in the most direct way. Apart from that, it is also believed that God’s presence starts from within and moves all around the believers.
This belief system has a thing for powerful experientials and not anything based on thinking or religious rituals. It will not be wrong to say that the members of this belief system are highly active and energetic. They are indeed dynamic to the right point. Maybe, the reason for such energy is the knowing and feeling of God living within them.
When it comes to faith, these churches emphasize more on the virtues and advantages of conversions that expand to baptism in spirit. That is how the believer’s heart and soul fills with the spirit and gives him the highest form of strength to live the truest form of Christian life.
Pentecostal VS Non-Denominational Churches
If we talk about differences between non-denominational and Pentecostal churches, the following differences will be noticed.
Difference #1: Bible Oriented
It is said that Pentecostalism is all about experience and not theology. Even then, this religion is all about the bible because God holds a lot of meaning and importance in this belief system.
God is indeed one of the basic focal points in non-denominational churches. But the bible is not “above everything” for the members of non-denominational churches.
Difference #2: Starts from an Event
Do you know the reason why Pentecostal is given such a name? Well, there is a story behind it. According to one of the sermons in the bible, Spirit fell on Jesus’ disciples and made them speak different languages (as a confirmation that they were baptized in Spirit). Pentecostals have believed since that day it was not just one odd event. According to them it happens every day. When it comes to non-denominational churches there is no event attached.
