Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump accepted a challenge on Jimmy Kimmel’s show to debate Senator Bernie Sanders. He said he would do it for a price paid by either Sanders or a network to be donated to charity.
The next night on Kimmel’s show, Sanders happily agreed to debate Trump before the June 7 California primary under the terms Trump set.
This afternoon, Trump released a statement backing out of the debate. In the statement, Trump wrote:
As much as I want to debate Bernie Sanders — and it would be an easy payday —I will wait to debate the first-place finisher in the Democratic Party, probably Crooked Hillary Clinton, or whoever it may be
He added that it would be “inappropriate that I would debate the second-place finisher.”
Well, Mr. Trump, why did you accept the challenge in the first place? Did you honestly believe Bernie would not accept? Are you crazy?
Oh, I’m sorry – stupid question with an obvious answer. Of course you are.
Sanders, after hearing the news, appropriately asked, “What’s he afraid of?”
He’s afraid of having his rearend handed to him as he is intellectually tossed about the debate location. He’s afraid of being made to look like the domestic and international ignorant fool that he is.
He’s afraid that the debate would cause an even greater surge to hand the Democratic nomination to the person who beats him consistently in every poll by wide margins.
He turned yellow.
