When the temperatures start to drop outside and the winter weather begins to kick in, there is nothing better than getting into a nice warm and cozy bed. However, not all beds are naturally cozy and some require a little bit of work to them in order to make them more inviting.
Use A Comfortable Mattress
The foundation of a comfy bed comes from the mattress, which is why it is so important to find the perfect one. Mattresses need replacing roughly every five to seven years in order to avoid them causing stiffness and / or pain. A good mattress should be comfortable, provide plenty of support, and keep the spine perfectly aligned.
Make The Room Smell Nice
The smell of a room actually plays a very important role in affecting the ambiance of a room. In order to make it feel cozier, try lighting some candles or use some sort of scent spray that has a calming smell, such as lavender. As well as spraying this throughout the room, also spray it on the bed pillows, linen, and blankets. To get the room not only smelling, but looking just right, why not get the blankets customized.
Use Soft Pillows
A sure fire way of making any bed cozy is by using soft pillows. Whilst some people prefer a well stuffed pillow, some people like them soft, and others like their pillows to be shaped in a way so that it provides support to both the head and the neck. For anyone that sleeps on their side, firm pillows are the best option, whereas for those people that sleep on their back, medium pillows are the most comfortable. For stomach sleepers, soft pillows should be used. It is important to clean pillows regularly for the purpose of personal hygiene.
Adjust The lights
The level of light that there is in a room has a direct affect on how a person feels. To make the space cozier, avoid natural light at night and instead opt for dimmed light instead. Rather than overhead lights, go for bedside lamps, as they create a much more softer glow. The curtains and / or blinds in the room should block out as much outside light as possible in order to keep the room sufficiently dark. For a great level of control, try replacing a light switch with a dimmer switch instead.
Use Comfortable Sheets
The sheets that are used on a mattress need to be the correct size in order to prevent them from coming off of the bed each and every time that you get in it. Cotton sheets are particularly comfy and are better to use during the colder winter months. Whilst silk sheets are very soft, they do retain heat, which makes them ideal for cooler nights. Another option is flannel sheets, which are cozy and warm, thus making them perfect for use in colder climates. For maximum comfort and hygiene, make sure that you change the sheets that are on your mattress every week.
